About Us

Applied Computing Foundation

Applied Computing Foundation has been exciting and empowering students and communities with coding, we’re bringing coding to the non-geek level. Daily coding with real projects for your needs and purposes is the core DNA of our Applied Computing Foundation mission.

History

Both MaKaboom and Wisen are coding schools operated in Silicon Valley since 2017. We share a compelling mission: To make a fundamental shift in theory-oriented STEM (especially computer science subject) fields with applied computing knowledge and empowerment. Our two organizations have done this in both similar and different ways: Through hands-on lectures (robotics for elementary school age groups and AI & web-based coding lectures for middle school and high school age groups), through a combination of events such as robotics competitions and hackathons, powerful Silicon Valley teen tech talks, and recently, online monthly web app challenges. We team up to advance the goal of turning status quo “theory oriented” CS field to more “applied computing-oriented” direction exponentially and keep this theme at the center of our mission as Applied Computing Foundation.

Our mission in action

  • Learning connected to the real world problem solving
  • We are a bridge builder from classroom to the real world
  • We encourage and support students to participate in science fair, competitions, hackathons where they can learn how to work in a team to create solutions
  • Internship opportunities partnering with various community organizations
